Maybe you’ve felt it — that quiet flinch when the conversation turns to the end times. Someone mentions the Antichrist, or prophecy, or “the things to come,” and something in you wants to change the subject. It feels too big, too dark, too uncertain. So you stay quiet. You let the moment pass. But avoiding the topic never made anyone safer. It just left them unprepared. And God never meant for you to face the future afraid.

There’s a kind of fear that masquerades as peace. We tell ourselves we’d rather not think about hard things — the Antichrist, the deception Scripture warns is coming, the days the prophets saw. We call it staying positive. But often it’s just looking away. The problem is that what we refuse to understand, we cannot stand firmly against. Jesus did not tell His followers to ignore the darkness. He told them to keep watch (Mark 13:33). And keeping watch is impossible with your eyes closed.

The Bible does not whisper about the Antichrist; it names the reality plainly. John writes that the spirit of the antichrist “is coming and even now is already in the world” (1 John 4:3). Paul warns of a coming “man of lawlessness” who exalts himself above everything called God (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4). Centuries earlier, the prophet Daniel already saw the shape of these days unfold (Daniel 9:24-27).

But notice what God does with that information. He does not hand you a reason to panic. He hands you a way to discern: “test the spirits to see whether they are from God” (1 John 4:1). The enemy’s power has always been the lie — counterfeits dressed up as truth, “signs and wonders that serve the lie” (2 Thessalonians 2:9). Deception only works in the dark. The believer who knows the Word walks with the lights on.

Here is the verse that reorders everything: “the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world” (1 John 4:4). Read it slowly. The Spirit of God living in you is not equal to the darkness, not slightly stronger than it — He is greater. Greater than every counterfeit, every deception, every shadow gathering on the horizon. That is why Jesus could say, without flinching, “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). The outcome of the story was settled at an empty tomb.

So what does “prepared” look like for you today? It is not stockpiling fear or chasing every headline. It is knowing your Bible well enough to recognize a lie the moment you hear one. It is staying so close to Jesus that His voice is the one you know best, the way a sheep knows its shepherd. “Perfect love drives out fear” (1 John 4:18) — and the more you walk with the God who loves you, the less power the darkness has to shake you.

The Antichrist is real. So is the cross. And the empty tomb already settled which one wins. You can stop looking away. You were never meant to live invisibly, hiding from the future. You were marked by a God who is greater — so you can face whatever comes, unafraid and unashamed.
